Welcome to Thame Senior Friendship Centre, including the Memories Café. We are a registered local charity providing a social haven for older individuals seeking companionship and entertainment. We’re open for 50 weeks of the year and are run by experienced staff and supportive volunteers.

Join us at The Friendship Centre for a day filled with chatter and laughter, delicious refreshments and engaging activities. Members enjoy a day with friends, including a two-course lunch, and a variety of activities and entertainment. You'll find the Friendship Centre at the Thame Town Cricket Club Pavilion on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9:30am to 2:30pm.

Alternatively come along to our Memories Café, an environment ideal for those with dementia, and for their carers. Our Dementia Coordinator provides practical and emotional support whilst our volunteers deliver a stimulating programme of activities and refreshments.  A safe environment to share concerns and worries, but more importantly somewhere to laugh, smile and have fun together.

The Café operates from Thame Snooker Club on Mondays and Tuesdays from 10am to 1pm.

About Our Centre

18.jpg

In September 2021 we opened the Memories Café which is entirely dedicated to supporting those with dementia and their carers in our community.  The Café expanded to a second morning in January 2025.

We first opened in 1986 as the Thame and District Day Centre based at Thame Community Hospital. Since then we’ve grown the Friendship Centre to accommodate up to 60 members a week at the Thame Town Cricket Pavilion. We renamed ourselves in 2020 but our aims and core values remain the same.

  • Promote choice, dignity and independence, respecting the rights of our members and their carers.
  • Work with care managers from the Integrated Care Board (ICB), Health Service professionals and voluntary and statutory bodies to provide support for our members.
